Descriptive Essay The Hummingbird - 2211 Words

Slipping into the cool seat of the Shelby sends bolts of excitement dancing through my body, despite the apprehension of the terrifying ride I m about to receive. The hummingbird makes her appearance the moment Angelo slips into the driver seat beside me, along with the smile that emerges on my lips. As he closes his door, darkness envelopes us, allowing me to sit here and gleam without him noticing. I m not ready for the discovery of my infatuation with him just yet. A hand flutters to my curved lips, whereupon, I commence chewing on my fingernail. All ill feelings I had towards him earlier melt away. Maybe I m a fool for permitting my imagination to run wild, yet I can t seem to abate the fantasy s ransacking through my mind. The†¦show more content†¦Ã¢â‚¬Å"Ready?† he asks. All I can do is nod. Without waiting for him to open my door, I exit the car and join by his side, allowing him to lead me to the office. The fear I endured from the poker game seeps through my memory, causing my steps to falter. With trepidation, my fingers twist into knots. I have to wonder if Angelo and I have a telepathic connection, as he reaches out a hand towards me just before opening the office door. As always, his hand feels warm inside mine, giving me a sense of security. He turns to face me, his warm eyes fill with love and concern. No words are exchanged, yet he silently encourages me to move forward with him. Upon entering the club, it s like the poker game nightmare never existed as I m greeted by the familiar sights and sounds of the club. The clouds of tobacco have long since dispersed, leaving the familiar scent of cologne to pervade the air. Even the atmosphere returned to its usual, euphoric nature as the music pounds in my ears. The heavy flow of patrons fills the room to capacity, dancing and enjoying their surroundings. Despite acknowledging my safety, I remain close beside Angelo, my hand securely inside his. The heat from his body radiates through his jacket, warming my bare skin of my arms. The makeshift corridor hidden behind the line of sofa s and tables plunges us into darkness.
